Alabama Nightclub Offering 'Food Stamp Fridays'
Well, this is a somewhat unique themed night: Rose Supper Club in Montgomery, Ala., is hosting "Food Stamp Friday" April 6, offering a discounted $5 cover charge for those who present a food stamp card.
This is the same nightclub that was on the brink of closing last month, so perhaps this is a way to drum up press and customers.
According to the Daily Caller, the club will be handing out free shots at the door, but the food stamps can't be used to buy alcoholic drinks. The manager, Harman Wilson, reportedly told the AP that the theme "complements" the other theme nights, like Fat Tuesday, Karaoke Wednesday, and Thirsty Thursday.
The AP reports that the Human Resources Department doesn't approve of the event, since food assistance benefits should provide healthy nourishment instead of a discounted cover charge to a nightclub. Head over to The Daily Caller for a shot of the flyer.
