Adam Sandler Signs Onto 'Candy Land' Movie
Jack and Jill star Adam Sandler is reportedly confirmed for a family-friendly Candy Land movie.
The classic board game involves an ice cream-strewn world with Peppermint Forests, Gumdrop Mountains, and the Lollypop Woods.
"The world of Candy Land offers an extraordinary canvas upon which to create a fantastical, live-action family adventure film with a larger than life part for Adam," Columbia president Doug Belgrad said. Columbia Pictures and Hasbro, Inc. (the company behind Candy Land) announced the collaboration with Sandler's Happy Madison production company yesterday.
No word on what the actual plot is, but it all sounds a bit like Willy Wonka, especially if they'll be portraying Candy Land characters Princess Frostine, Lord Licorice, Mr. Mint, and King Candy.
Enchanted's Kevin Lima is set to direct, though, which gives us hope that this will be more sweet and wonky than annoying and wonky.
