Actress Tia Mowry Launches PETA Ad Promoting Veganism
Actress Tia Mowry, of "Tia & Tamera" and "Sister, Sister" fame, has just released an ad with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) promoting veganism. In the ad, she poses in a kitchen wearing an apron sewn of greens by costume designer Mia Gyzander.
In a video by PETA, Mowry explains her vegan lifestyle.
"I became a vegan and I was getting bullied a lot on Twitter," she says, but PETA reached out to her to support her choice—one that they call "the compassionate choice."
In the video, Mowry says that eating meat and what is happening to the animals that become our meat "disgusting." "I think some people are afraid to know what really goes on, so they think ignorance is bliss, but unfortunately, not in this case. The more you learn about the benefits of being vegan, the more you become alive and the more you become aware of why this is actually a really great decision to make.
"I wanted to educate my culture about the benefits of becoming vegan," Mowry says in the video, citing stigmas about taste surrounding veganism. "But don't knock it 'til you try it! The taste is very vibrant. It's very satisfying—and it is so incredibly good."
Mowry also shares that she has felt significantly better since becoming vegan, and that she feels as though she is becoming more conscious of how she is helping herself, animals, and the environment. "There are so many great things about being vegan... Going vegan, I feel great."
