60 Bands Named After Food

In 1910, a man by the name of Aaron Thibeaux Walker was born in rural Texas. He would go on to become an acclaimed blues musician – the first ever to record using an electric guitar – and, more importantly, to appropriate the stage name "T-Bone" Walker. Walker's tribute to the T-Bone cut of steak originated over a century ago and yet today some of the hottest musicians still draw inspiration for their stage names from food. Take Clams Casino, for instance, also known as Mike Volpe of New Jersey, who has made a meteoric rise to fame as a producer, providing instrumentals to rappers like Lil B, Soulja Boy, and A$AP Rocky. Volpe renamed himself after a traditional New England appetizer comprised of clams on the half shell served with breadcrumbs and bacon.

The list transcends any one genre or era – from nineties hip-hop sensation Vanilla Ice to Irish alternative rockers The Cranberries, pop punks Bowling for Soup to Eric Clapton's British super group Cream, the only thing these wildly diverse bands have in common is their food namesake.
