Beer and wine drinkers of the world — you know this is a problem you run into often. If you constantly choose wine over beer, or hit the draught lines instead of the wine bottle, there are those times at a party, at a dive bar, or out with friends where you're faced with a conundrum: there's no beer or wine to be found. So for the wine lovers who stay away from beer, or the beer lovers who avoid wine at all costs, what can be done?

Jim Laughren, certified wine educator and author of A Beer Drinker's Guide To Knowing And Enjoying Fine Wine, tells The Daily Meal that there is a way to find the perfect wine for the beer drinker, and the perfect beer for the wine drinker. (Hence the title of his book.) While teaching wine classes in Chicago, he found a complaint among the mostly female class: that their husbands were beer guys, but couldn't appreciate wine at all. But by the same token, the women didn't appreciate a great beer. While not to peg women as only wine lovers and men as only beer drinkers, Laughren saw a missed opportunity: everyone can enjoy a great beer or wine, if they know their taste buds. "Certainly men should be a little more tuned in, in terms of helping ladies appreciate beer, and the women needed some approach to get men to approach and share good wine," he says.
