25 Favorite Winter-Weather Drinks
There is a lot to love about the December season, but sometimes the pressure of getting everything done in time for the holidays, combined with that frightful, biting cold can turn even the biggest wintertime fan into a Grade-A Grinch.
Nothing a nice, warm mug of perfect hot chocolate or a glass of rich, creamy eggnog can't fix. (No? OK, how about some pomegranate mulled wine, or a strong Irish coffee?)
Just as fall called for cocktails predictably inspired by farmers market favorites — apples, pears, and pumpkins — the winter-weather drink roster also has its band of usual suspects. The aforementioned hot chocolate, of course, and all of its delightful variations — spiced, spiked, or served topped with a homemade marshmallow. Then there are holiday party staples: boozy eggnog, warm punches, and a bevvy of mulled beverages. And for those days cozied up by the fire? Few things satisfy more than a cup of rosemary-infused tea or a warming spiced latte.
It's important to note, however, that not all seasonally appropriate winter drinks are required to be served warm. Rich, creamy concoctions like the classic Brandy Alexander perfectly fit the bill (brandy does have a warming effect, after all).
To that end, we've compiled a collection of 25 favorite recipes to inspire your next seasonal sip.
