2013 Germany Michelin Stars Announced
The Michelin Guide has revealed its top restaurants for Germany, all awarded one, two, or three of its coveted stars in the latest Michelin Guide to Germany, released Wednesday, according to Bloomberg.
With the 2013 Germany guide comes a new distinction: Germany has 10 restaurants with three Michelin stars, surpassing all other European countries except France, for the country with the most three-Michelin-starred restaurants. The awarding of three stars to chef Kevin Fehling's La Belle Epoque at the Columbia Hotel in Lübeck, helped Germany attain the distinction.
In addition to the Fehling's three-star rating, the 2013 guide also lists seven restaurants that received a second star, bringing the total of restaurants with two Michelin stars in Germany to 36. Hirschen in Sulzberg was among the restaurants that received a second star, making chef Douce Steiner the first female chef to hold two stars in Germany, according to Michelin.
The guide, which goes on sale Nov. 9, also lists 29 restaurants that were awarded one star for the first time.
